Thursday, Nov. 21 at the 40 Watt Club: Seven Handle Circus and The Skipperdees: Seven Handle Circus is a critically acclaimed “grass and roll” (bluegrass & rock) band. Friday, Nov. 22 at the 40 Watt Club: Soul legend Swamp Dogg, southern rock & roll favorites Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires, and indie-soul group The HEAP. Swamp Dogg (a.k.a. Jerry Williams) has been called “the soul genius that time forgot.” Bains categorizes his group’s sound as, “Alabama rock ‘n’ roll,” and attributes his soulful twist to his musical roots singing in the church choir. Saturday, Nov. 23 at New Earth Music Hall: electronic music trio Greenhouse Lounge and “best Atlanta experimental music act” (per Creative Loafing) Skymatic. These high-energy sets are sure to keep the dance floors packed. Greenhouse Lounge combines the precision and production of a DJ with the raw energy and instruments of a three-piece rock band. The group describes their music as, “euphoric; a hypnotic based sound; tightly woven sonic soundscapes that are rich in melody and texture.” Skymatic’s rising fame has brought much attention to the up-and-coming electronic hip-hop genre. Tickets are $10.
Thursday, December 5 at The Melting Point: Justin Townes Earle
Justin Townes Earle’s 2012 album Nothing’s Gonna Change The Way You Feel About Me Now was named a top album of the year by Rolling Stone Magazine, and he won Americana Song of the Year last year. Tickets will go on sale Nov 25 at 10am and can be purchased in advance for $17, or at the door on the day of the show (if it’s not sold out) for $20.
