Friday, Nov. 22 at the 40 Watt Club: Soul legend Swamp Dogg, southern rock & roll favorites Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires, and indie-soul group The HEAP. Swamp Dogg (a.k.a. Jerry Williams) has been called “the soul genius that time forgot.” Bains categorizes his group’s sound as, “Alabama rock ‘n’ roll,” and attributes his soulful twist to his musical roots singing in the church choir. Athens favorites The HEAP offer great indie-soul music. Tickets for Friday’s event are $8 in advance and $10 at the door; advance tickets available at

Saturday, Nov. 23 at New Earth Music Hall: electronic music trio Greenhouse Lounge and “best Atlanta experimental music act” (per Creative Loafing) Skymatic. These high-energy sets are sure to keep the dance floors packed. Greenhouse Lounge combines the precision and production of a DJ with the raw energy and instruments of a three-piece rock band. The group describes their music as, “euphoric; a hypnotic based sound; tightly woven sonic soundscapes that are rich in melody and texture.” Skymatic’s rising fame has brought much attention to the up-and-coming electronic hip-hop genre. Tickets are $10.
